i have a laptop as already known by some of you. But here is the bad part, I would rather have a desktop computer. Why?? Because my laptop throws problems is very slow and every time i virs scan it it finds nothing. But when i take it to a pro it runs percect and when i leave it runs and acts slow.

Desktops by far. Laptops are based on really, really crappy technology. The batteries they use are very prone to over-heating your machine, thus after a year or two of good usage they are pretty much shot. I'm never going back to laptops again. Desktops are also a fraction of the price, so it's no contest for me.

I agree. Usually laptops are much slower too.

Poll fixed for you cici's ^^

I vote Desktop.. I still have the LCD monitor (the big box one), and a mouse w/ a roller ball  it's so old compared to my sister's wireless mouse and my dad's fancy flat-screen monitor  but, this may sound weird, I wouldn't have it any other way  I love my computer setup

Winkles Acknowledge Me.

Man, I'm like the only person who's laptop is faster then the family PC.

My laptop is QUITE the tank. Hardware failures excluded, I've yet to be killed by spyware or anything.

Why? Cause I use Mozilla, a firewall and I'm not a retard with downloads or websites.

It's so easy to avoid spyware if you know what you're doing.

I owe a desktop that works, but not the best quality by far. I was told by a popular mechanics magazine 5 yrs. ago, the best PCs are "Tiny" made in Britain, instead of Apple or MS. I make sure my PC is up-to-date from virus threats and blocked my spam mail (whew...what a relief).

I never felt a need for a laptop, although some people owe one as a convenient way to carry your internet access and can log on the internet wherever they are. (on the bus, at a cafe, in a park bench, etc.) But you need to recharge laptops on a regular basis and what's cool is they are light-weight, some less than 5 pounds.

My bro has all the family's old computers and he tears 'em apart for spare parts or programs. Instead of living in "1991", I should purchase a laptop whenever they get on sale (or if by necessity): "welcome to the 21st century".

Well, first you have to decide whether you want to run Apple or Windows.

I can be very happy with Macs, as I don't really play games on my computer aside from the occasional emulated video game. Also, less chance of viruses with Macs. Course, you could just run Linux on a PC.

Which I might do someday.

In terms of quality, I believe Dell is better then Gateway.

You can get a solid PC for dirt cheap if you want to build it yourself, or know someone who can build it for you.

Don't ask me any more on that last bit. You're better off going to a dedicated computer forum for building info.

I had a friend who had a Mac destroyed by viruses a few months ago. Don't believe the hype.
