I haven't watched BET, MTV or listened to the radio in years at this point. I did manage to hear Soulja Boy, and wow holy fucking shit. It sorta makes me wish that hip hop was a religion so some of these people could burn in hell for releasing such wack shit. I can't believe something I loved so much has been bastardized to that degree.

*is in bad mood right now XD*

"soulja boy"...the worst song ever? I got tired of it! At first, I thought it was catchy, though all it is he yells and a bunch of guys say "YOU!" a hundred times. The local FM radio stations won't stop playing this song, among 10 others like "hips don't lie" by Shakira they played all of 2005. UGH! If there's a call-in request line, I ask 'em "stop @#$%^&* playing soulja boy...NOW!"

But yeah, totally agree, Soulja Boy is freaking awful... makes me want to bash a wall with a mace

Oh... and other sucky songs... lets see... we have anything Gwen Stefani (yeah, I hate her singing XD ), "Who Let The Dogs Out" :p , "Stars Are Blind" (goodness... Paris??? why??), and there's prolly others that I really hate.... ^^

I don't even see how that shit is catchy. It's noise. It only stayed in my head because it's annoying. More effort went into making the music for Mario Brothers for NES. Bowser's castle theme music = catchy. Beat to soula boy = someone taking a shit with a fruity loops free trial. Add on top of that 3rd grade drop-out, Burger King employee who has never rapped in his life. Rodney Dangerfield had more credibility on the microphone.

HEY! Gwen Stefani is a bad singer? what gives? :( Some of her songs are classic, but that's your style and taste, same with your continuous adoration of Britney Spears. :hmm: I may not like Ashley Simpson, but a few people in here sure do (and I know their names).

You're lucky Kansas City don't get 97.7 FM (the Palm Springs area)...it's gotten to the point I won't wanna listen to it anymore. Except a few stations, most of FM radio is on it's death nil, because they lack enough good quality songs...and just the same ol' "let's imitate each other" DJ blab routine.

J-syxx, the soundtrack of "Soulja boy" (just drop the vocals, use it in your house party) is probably what I liked about it. But the chorus shouting "YOU" does get annoying. I love fresh new pop or rock, not mass produced or packaged in a way the record companies want it. Is it what indie rock and hip-hop is all about? <_<

Eh, you can like anything you want, I'm just in a pretty bad mood right now like I said. :lmao: But, I'll re-iterate fuck Soulja Boy. :lmao:

Actually, I think I have to add We Fly High/Jim Jones. The BALLLLIN'! was the only real hook (we still throw it around on trips and at parties), and the song hasn't aged too well in the year since I've heard it.
The video still makes me laugh though. They do fucking pushups with bikini-clad wimmens on their backs! I probably like it more than the song alone.

^ The south in general is on some pretty wack shit. People used to think Puff Daddy was bad, but then all this bullshit came out. I don't know what is wrong with the people down there, but it seems the cornier your beats, the weaker your rhymes, the better you are. It's basically hip hop bizzaro land and it has pretty much killed the entire genre. I was in so much disbelief at one point, that like I said, I pretty much never touched any radio station or music channel again.

Pesci too.

There's some japanese song out there that totally samples Mario and kicks all kinds of ass. There's also some Mario song that samples Mario and is about Mario's adventure.

I must dig it up again. I lost track of it when my first iPod died.

There was a review in the NYTimes about Soulja Boy and they said the album reminded them of the good ol' days of rap, when beats were simple and rhymes were witty.

Except that Big Daddy Kane, Kool Keith and Kool Moe Dee actually, you know, had talent and shit.

After Gamefaqs made that Chris Benoit joke? NEVER. The song's now officially in the "Hilarious In-Joke" catagory.

Kinda like "Cum On Feel The Noize" and "When a Man Loves a Woman". You had to be there to understand why they make me laugh now.

Translation, they don't know the good ol' days of rap from their assholes. If this guy tried to come out in 1982 he would've been dissed by everyone and their mother. He is not in the leagues of people like Melle Mel, Kurtis Blow, Whodini or whoever else was out then. Comparing that kind of delivery and production to each other is an insult to hip hop's roots. It just amazes how much these shitty rags worship this crap music. They must be in cahootz or something. I remember months before Nelly came out I read about his wack ass being the future in Newsweek, of all fucking places.

....I'm almost afraid to ask. :lmao:

Isn't Soulja Boy's recognition a product of the internet or something? I remember reading that somewhere, that he either started his "career" by posting shit on the net or his "fame" just spread that way faster than usual...I sampled a few tracks in the iTunes store and found I his main song obnoxious. One of the others was catchy, but I didn't know if I should shell out a buck for the other 3 minutes of it. <_<

Yeah, that's probably what happened. Some A&R probably was looking for some more dirty south bullshit, heard his mp3, and instant profit. Rinse and repeat.

I was actually hoping hip hop would completely disappear from the pop-charts so it could go back to where it came from. Sales have decreased, but it's not happening nearly as fast as I would like.
