What TV shows are you currently watching

#4
I don't watch many shows, but last month I binge-watched quite a few episodes of 6teen. This show was mentioned once or twice on the old forum.

It has a couple of things I wish we saw more of in TS, namely multi-episode story arcs, and character development (albeit very gradual). On the downside, there are not many sexy outfit changes, nor much variety in how the girls are drawn (I think the animation is done with a computer program).

Like TS, the episodes are written by various people and the quality varies. Some rely on cringe comedy or toilet humor, which I could do without. On the other hand, 6teen often goes places you don't see in TS. For example there's an episode where not only do the girls get their periods, but Jen adds that they're all BFFs now because their cycles have synched up. I was frankly shocked to see that in a show that ran at the same time as TS and is supposedly aimed at the same audience. I guess it did take some heat for age-inappropriate content, and was censored by some channels that aired it.

Anyone who likes Sam (like me) will probably like Jen (the brunette/redhead). She is the mother hen of the group. She tends to be bossy and controlling (which I happen to find cute rather than annoying). She's a tomboy and has the same awkwardness around guys as Sam. She has a (IMO) very sexy, slightly husky voice that sometimes squeaks (which I also find cute) when she yells at someone.

Nikki (right) is a sarcastic and rebellious punk girl and my second favorite. She doesn't really correspond to any of the TS girls, except maybe Clover in some of her bratty moments. She dislikes her job and it is pretty funny to watch her insolence to both her boss, coworkers, and customers.

Cate (the blonde) is similar to Clover, although I don't find her as interesting. She is somewhat shallow, but also friendly and has a good heart.

Mandy's role is filled by Tricia (who's evidently modeled on Disney's Megara), although I think Tricia is a good deal more smug and openly evil than Mandy. Here she is pretending to be sad so she can dupe someone into helping with one of her plots. Unfortunately I don't think we ever get much insight as to why she behaves as she does; it seems she's just evil for the sake of it.

Here's a channel with all the episodes.
